Mig Welder Help

Hey guys, I have just bought a Millermatic 135 and it has a gas mixture tank, and i was wondering if that tank is totally empty should the welder still produce an arc. I tryed it and it won't arc, so i was just wondering if an empty tank has anything to do with this???? Thanks alot Miller Man

Miller Man,

Yes, the machine should still produce an arc.

Is this a new machine?
When you depress the trigger does the wire come out of the gun?
Did you check the connection of the gun and the polarity terminals?
Does the cooling fan run when the machine is turned on.

Also make sure you have a good ground. If what you are welding is rusty or coated with something then you are going to have to prep the surface.
