Fixing cast aluminum

I have a mailbox that is cast aluminum (at least I think that is what it is).

The other day the door broke at the bottom corner which broke it away from the holding pin that the door is hinged on.

I need to repair it and make it stable. I tried JB Weld but that held up for about 2 weeks before it gave out. I also tried a 2 part epoxy and that help for a one time use.

I looked at the price just to replace the entire (one piece) mailbox and it is about $400 so I thought I would give it a shot at maybe repairing it first.

Any ideas of what or how to repair this?

If it is aluminum, take it to a welding shop to see if they can weld it. It shouldn't cost anywhere near $400.
