DIY mandrel bender

I'd like to be able to bend 2.5" to 3.5" O.D. tubing.
Material will be aluminum maybe some steel, I want to do something kind of inexpensive.

Do you guys know where i can find some instructions? Dies? etc?
I already have a hydraulic press which i may adapt to the bender.

I recommend that you visit a muffler shop and take a look at a commercially built unit as a model.
You may be able to use some of the fittings and wear-items that are repair parts for that system instead of making them yourself. Then your effort would go into fabricating the powerhead to save money.

That's helpful info. but what about the companies that supply the pieces to the bender manufacturers, maybe i could buy from them?

where do all those motorcycle shops buy their tube benders from. I have seen them bend some exhuast tubing BY HAND on a mandrel bender
