I can purchase a used Merlin 150 BC stick welder pretty reasonable the ony thing i would like to know if this model is ac or dc or both. The guy i talked with didn't know.Thanks for your help

Are the welding leads permanently attached or do they plug in? If permanently attached look for a polarity switch. Permanently attached and no polarity switch would mean it is an AC machine. If both leads plug in then there should be polarity markings on the sockets. No polarity markings would mean it is an AC machine.
Best I can tell from a Google search is that it is an AC welder and maybe a combination battery charger. Relatively small (and cheap) machine as well.
