MIG welding with a generator
I recently picked up a nice used Lincoln WeldPak 140HD that runs great on 110v 20a. The instructions advise it’s ok to use up to 50’ of 12 ga extension cord. I’m wondering if this could be used with a portable gasoline generator... I have several generators at 5,500 and 6,500 watt that produce more than enough power. It would be great to have portable welding capabilities. Any thoughts?

I've run my welders many times off of generators much smaller than yours without trouble. Luckily they both fit easily in the bucket of the tractor or into a small trailer. I find it easier to move them both close enough to the job that extension cords are not needed.
