Stuck wire in welder

aloha everyone, i have a lincoln weld pak 140 and when removing the gun to change a spool i somehow broke the wire and it is now stuck in the wire feed inside the welder. there is about 4” coming out of the outgoing guide and 4-5” before the incoming guide.
it was feeding fine before i broke the wire. the wire in the gun was easily removed but this foot long piece is stuck in the wire feed. it is fluxcore .035 NR 211 MP wire.
i have tried removing the wire by releasing tension arm and pivot arm and pulling in both directions. i didnt want to reconnect gun in case the wire would get stuck in filler tube.
any ideas/suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance

temp 78 F
winds 8-10 ENE
surf NW 6-8 ft

coming from outgoing

incoming

I've never seen a wire get caught there. You do need to remove it. Does your welder have removable or different size infeed guide for the wire? If so, it might be the wrong size. Usually though it's a defect in the wire and it's simply stuck. I loosen things to make sure there is nothing grabbing or binding the wire. Then I pull as hard as it takes to get the wire out. Usually I try to pull back from the spool side since the obstruction probably came from that direction it should be easier to remove unless you've already pulled hard in the gun direction.

Did you get it.
Pilot's suggestion should do it.
A way to ensure the wire does not break where you are pinching it is to take a pair of needle nose pliers and grab the end of the wire.
Rotate the pliers so that you are winding the wire onto them.
By doing this you can pull sideways as hard as you want and this will allow maximum pull without breaking the wire.
Not familiar with that welder but the liner is likely replaceable and it would be a normal coarse of things to occasionally have to replace it.
