need to drill through a metal disc but too big for a drill press

The disc is too big to get to the center holes since the point of the drill to the back post exceeds the radius of the disc,
I also have many holes to drill so I have been hand drilling one by one gradually increasing the size of the bit, but as they get larger the drill bit keeps getting stuck even when I use lots of oil.

Is there any other way/technique to drill these holes?

What size hole are you wanting to drill?
How thick is the metal disc?
What metal is the disc?

Have you considered trying a Titanium Step drill bit (like the images below)?

I'm attempting to drill a 3/8" hole into a 3/16" thick disc made out of standard steel. The step drill bits look like the answer I will try them, thank you

I use standard twist drills. Even the garden variety high speed steel will work well. Start with a small pilot like 1/8" to accurately locate the hole. Then drill to your final size or make an intermediate size hole like 1/4" before stepping up to 3/8".

I think my problem may be I'm stepping up in size to gradually, I did the pilot hole, then a much larger hole that wouldn't get caught, then the final hole, thanks

would just do one pilot and then 3/8 but you need to go slower rpm and use cutting oil and have a sharp bit sometimes hand drills can be a little more difficult to slow the speed down on.

I suggest you look at magnetic based drill presses. They are not cheap but maybe you can rent or buy one and resell after the project. I have seen used ones on ebay. The piece of steel must be flat for the magnet to hold while drilling.
