I also am new to this site.
I have a problem with my 83085 Century 85
Amp wire feed welder. the gun stays hot all the time the welder is turned on.
If there is wire sticking out of the gun and you happen to touch the ground it will spark and weld.
Need to know if anyone has haad this problem and what they did to fix it. Or is it supposed to be that way?

Welcome to the forums.
Sub model:117-050 - Century 85A service info - pdf
From what I can see on the wiring diagram.... the trigger controls the wire feed motor and solenoid only. That means that power to the welding wire is always there.
I tried finding an operating manual but Century charges $8 for them. They must be kidding.
But.... that's what you really need.

You might make an electrically isolated torch rest- could be as simple as a vertical pine 1x2 with a hole in it. Stick the nozzle end of the torch in, and the weight of the torch/cable will “wedge” it in place.
