well pump turns on without water running
I have a well pump that is almost 20 years old, but in good shape. The pressure is good and I have never had a problem with it.
Recently, I have noticed that the pump turns on every few hours - without any water being used. I have checked for leaks (faucets, toilets, pipes) and found none, also I have turned off the water feed to the pump for a few hours, and the pump stays quiet.
What do you think? I'm trying to check all avenues before I even think about purchasing another pump. Thanks.

Sounds like a check valve problem to me, too.
Even though it looks O.K., it might have build-up in it from the well water or just a weak spring or seal, not allowing it to seal completely.
I would take it apart, and check it out.
Good luck!

Thanks ! I'll "check" it out.
