Water Pressure while watering

This is the first time I've owned a home with a well. I'm trying to water the lawn and I noticed that the water pressure drops when the pump turns off. When this happens, there doesn't appear to be enough pressure to turn the sprinkler head. I looked at the pressure switch settings and it cuts in at 34 psi and cuts out at 54 psi. I have a 44 gallon Flexcon Industries Challenger Series tank. The pump is coming on often. I'm afraid that I'm going to burn out the pump.

Those pressures are normal. It seems your sprinkler requires more pressure to operate. You could try looking for a different sprinkler thta will operate with lower pressure.

Thanks joed. Should I be concerned with my pump going on every few minutes?

If your pressure tank is the one I think it is, you have about 12 gallons of drawdown between pumping cycles. A large rotary sprinkler can use several gallons a minute. This will make your pump cycle frequently.

Going on every few minutes is not a problem. Going on every few seconds is a problem.
