Can I install a sump pit liner?

I have an older house that has what appears to be a Clay or concrete sump pit. The top of the pit above the craw space floor has begun to crack. Can I just slip a plastic liner pit, inside this old pit, or do I have to remove the old one and replace it?

I would put a new sump pit in, but, I would drill numerous holes around the bottom and sides along with the pipes entering the pit so that you don't accidentally raise the water table under your concrete slab by putting in a water tight pit.

You can mortar in the top of the pit to make it seal tight at the top.....along with cutting out the bottom of the new plastic pit if you have height problems with getting the entire pit flush with the concrete floor surface.

sump pit liner

Thank you for your reply.
I didn't think about putting holes in the bottom, or cutting the bottom out to fit. Those are great ideas thank You
