Well Pump Question

Whenever I turn water on at any source (shower, dw, faucet, etc) in my home, the water comes out and then stops for a quick 1/2 second - almost like there maybe air in the line or something like that. Does anyone know what this miight mean? The well pump came with the home - we bought it 5yrs ago and I estimate, the pump maybe 10yrs+ old. The water tank was replaced abt. 4 mo ago.

You probably have a little too much air in the tank. When the bladder bottoms out, you are out of water until the pressure drops enough to kick on the pump. To check how much air is in the tank, turn off the pump, let all the pressure out of a faucet somewhere. Check the air pressure in the tank with a tire gauge. That pressure should be 2 lbs. less than the pressure your pump turns on at.

Bob's got the #1 cause covered.

#2 is that you have a hole in the bladder of your pressure tank. When the water gets low enough, the air that is normally isolated from the water by the rubber bladder gets purged into the system.

Replace the tank to fix that.
