What pipe is recommended for inlet to jet pump?

Hello! This is my well situation: the well, old dug out well approx 12' deep there is a 8" ID casing in the middle that goes down 17'-20'. There isn't any cap on the casing and judging by the look of the rocks in the dug out well, the water goes over the top of the casing sometimes. From my drop pipe to my jet pump is 1" steel line. The line is only 2' underground and goes into the casing thru the top opening. Suprisingly, I've never had the line freeze. I installed a new jet pump and it has a 1 1/4 inlet. I am experiencing air in the lines and I am loosing my peek pressure. I would like to run new inlet line, add a pitless adapter so I can drop the line 4' underground, and a install a sealed well cap. Am I on the right track? What do you recommend for inlet and drop pipe? Is PVC good to use or is poly pipe? I was thinking of running a big pipe with my inlet pipe going thru it...if I have any future problems I wouldn't have to dig, I could just slide the smaller pipe out and replace, but how would I seal against water getting into the big pipe from the dug well? Just caulk around them? When I replace the foot valve, how far off the bottom of the well should it be? How do you determine if you have a large enough inlet pipe ex. I am running it thru a new addition and around some corners? My inlet pipes now sweat when my pump runs, is there any way to stop that so the moisture does ruin my drywall in the new addition? Thanks for your time, your help is greatly appreciated!

If you have turns to make etc. go with Poly Pipe. You'll only have two joints. Less air leak problems etc. You should use 1-1/4", same as the pump's inlet.

I wouldn't waste my time with the bigger pipe, if you buy good Poly like 160 PSI you and I won't live long enough to see it break. It's tough stuff.

Thanks, I purchased the 1 1/4" polly pipe and I am presently in the middle of installing it. If you want to make a sharp turn, can it be heated up to form it?

No, I wouldn't put heat anywhere but where the barb fitting is to go. All you will accomplish is a kink. Kinks are not conducive to good water flow.
