pump pressure

I have a gould jet pump it has been losing presure. I checked and there are no leaks in the house. It takes about 20- 25 mins. for the pressure to drop before the pump kicks back on. Could this be a leaky line or bad foot valve?

Yes, it could be either one. If there is a valve between the pressure tank and house, close it and let the pump sit. If the pressure still drops, you'll know the problem is on the pump/well end.

I did isolate the house from the tank and pump and the pressure still dropped so that is what it must be. Thanks for the reply. Tom

replaced pressure switch, water runs sporaticly.

recently replaced pressure switch and now the water runs for about a minute and then shuts off for about 15 seconds and then starts again. Also there is a banging noise in the pipes when the water is running and the lights flicker throughout the house when the water is turned on. Please help! :0)

How do you size a pressure tank for a well system? there are 4 of us in the house and the pressure tank is only about the size of a 5 gallon bucket. Aslo the pressure on the gauge is at 100psi right now, is that right? Thanks
