No water

I turned on the water faucet and no water came out hot or cold. I checked the motor to the well and it wasn't running. I checked the braker in the house and everything was ok there. I'm wondering if there is a particular way to tell if this could be a motor problem or if the well has gone dry? Or if something else could possibly be wrong. Can anyone tell me what to check out and in what order? I'm not familiar with any type of plumbing and don't know anything about wells.
I live in the country and I'm on a fixed budget and any advice would appreciated. Thanks so much, Elaine

could be the pressure switch.......could be the line to the pressure switch...could (but i am gonna guess not) the pump motor....if you have no knowledge of this sort of thing it may be hard for a local expert on here (no i am not one) to coach you through this...perhaps a more knowledgable neighbor could check it out for you?

If giggling the wire made the power come back on you probably have a loose connection. This is not good. You should turn off the power to the pump and open the switch where you giggled. Look for and tighten any loose connections you find.

How to turn off power to pump ?

Hi Joed, how do I turn off the power to the pump ?, it's not connected to the house or the fuse box ? I think it goes underground. Is the switch the small box on side of the motor where the cable attaches ?

Thanks for any info
Elaine

It connects somewhere. You need to find out where. It should go to your breaker box or a sub panel somewhere.
It might not be a swotch. But the box where you giggled is where the loose connection sounds likely to be.
