Emergency--Water pump fried?
Hi:
Was in the process of doing the weekly laundry tonight when my wife said we had no water upstairs. Investigation revealed no pressure in the system (deep well) and the pump wasn't running.
I flipped the breaker off and gave it a few minutes. Nothing.
I turned the breaker off again and "hotwired" the pump, bypassing the pressure switch. Power at the switch, still no pump.
Any other tricks I can try before I have to assume the worst?
Right now all is shut off.

Pump guy just left...
Fried pump was drawing 29 amps on each leg of the 240 V circuit...why didn't my breaker trip? I'll be replacing that breaker soon.
Pump was 425 feet down...static head at 100 feet. New pump (3/4 hp) entirely new wiring from pump to house (at my request).
It certainly works now.
