pump bad or no
some time ago my pump would come on for a little would go off. It's a submercible. I looked at the presure switch and it was bad so I replaced it. While replacing the presure switch, I noted that the pipe supplying presure to it was stoped up so I cleaned out and replaced the pipe. After trying the pump again I found that it did the same as it did originally. I tried and new control box on it and this did not help.
Now I have pulled the pump and find that the motor is good, however there is some vibration in the impellar section. Otherwise the pump runs good since I have it out of the well. What's wrong. I called a pump repairman and he said that it was probably a presure problem. I don't see how that could be since I replaced the presure switch with a new one. Also, I tried runing the pump with a faucet open and it still did the same thing as above. I'm at my wits end. Help me?

How long did you run the pump out of the well? Could be the pump is defective and overheats itself. The heat sensor would shut the pump down. Then when it cooled off the sensor would allow it to restart until it overheated again. The load of pumping water could all that is need to cause it to overheat.

I agree with joed. There's a huge difference running the pump out of the well, versus running it in the well under full load. Taking amp and resistance readings while the pump was in the well would probably have detected the problem.
