Whole house filter location question

I have a small whole house water filter (cartridge type) and I installed it in the incoming well water line BEFORE the air pressure tank. A friend said it should be installed past the air pressure tank...what can you tell me ?

It should be installed after the pressure tank. There shouldn't be anything between the pump and tank that would restrict pressure and flow.

One thing to remember - if you break into your cold water line to install a whole house filter you may have disrupted the electrical bonding to your home's piping system.
