Waste Backup

Every winter we get a terrible sewer smell and then our waste backs up into our downstairs shower. Normally, the water will drain, slowly, but it will drain. This time, the water isn't draining. We have had our lines cleared, are careful about what we flush down the toilet, and use Rid-x about every other month, even though we are on city water/sewer.

It almost acts like an air lock. Plunging does not good. Do you have any suggestions?

I must tell you, we live in the north, with below 0 weather.

Sounds like a main line clog. Maybe it is frozen. I would have it rooted out with a power snake.

The ridx is doing nothing for you.
Stop wating your money.

Maybe you have a little friend nesting in your vent stack when it gets cold out. I had a buddy pay $1200 for a camera scope and snake out of a dead bird from his. He could'a DIY for a snake rental fee.
