shallow Well Piston Pump Repair Help Needed
I have an old Southern Industries Ltd piston pump model 8250 similar to a Duro K255.
I can easily replace the pump's rubber valves, springs etc but I can't get to the worn leather piston cups to relace them. I have removed the end plate assemly in the pumping chamber exposing the end of the piston chamber and the cups and what looks like a slotted bolt or screw. when I try to unscrew this bolt the piston rod also wants to turn . I'm concerned that if I apply too much force I will break the piston rod or cam. Will I be able to access both leather cups somehow?
Many thanks in advace.

The rod is meant to unscrew. Unless you can hold the other end of the rod just unscrew it as an assy and then you will be able hold it in a vice and unscrew the the leathers. If the rod is worn replace it to prevent leaks. also replace the packing material around the rod.
