Is my water well going dry?

My pump will pump water for 4-5 minutes, then pump air and water into tank. We are having a pretty dry spell here in south carolina. What should I do? Wait for rain?

Without local knowledge, I would say, yeah it's going dry. You need to stop overpumping it. Once the water stops, you should turn off the pump. You can ruin a well by overpumping it too much.

As to what to do more than that, I was just talking to some friends from NC and they said there was a huge drought there. Who knows when it will break? Can you get by on the reduced amount of water?

Turn off the pump. When the water stops and pump keeps running, you will burn up your pump.
