meyers pressure regulator question
Hi all, I was wondering if I could get some expertise. Last week I bought from the local hardware shop, a new pressure regulator valve that screws into my Myers mvp100 vertical jet well pump. The guy at the hardware store said to just install it and turn the water on, turn adjustment screw all the way in, then start backing the screw out, and when you see max flow, tighten nut and your done.
I tried that and saw the pressure going up and up and up and the water coming out of the pipe going down and down and down, so I put two and two together that he meant flow coming out of pressure regulator and not the pressure on gauge off pressure regulator. Well I tried to eyeball that, and do the best I could, seems like my pressure though is little less than what it was before I changed out the pressure regulator. Any thoughts, did I do this the right way, or is there a preferred other method to the eyeball flow check.
By the way, I had to replace the other one because water was seeping out of the weep hold on it, so the guy at hardware store said it's leaking past the diaphram.
Thanks for any info or advice.
