Well Pump turning on too often

I have been experiencing my well pump turning on every time we use water in the house. Our water pressure coming to the house is OK, however, the pump turns on with every little use of water. I have a holding tank the pressure is 35 psi when I put a tire gauge on the top of the tank. The gauge that is in the pipeline stays at 42psi and doesn't move. I think I have either a tank problem or pressure gauge problem. Is there a test to see which one is causing the pump to turn on constantly? Thanks

Wink

With the pump off and the tanked drained down .What is the Psi then in the tank ?? It should be 2 lb light of cut in Psi. If you have a bladder tank.

Besides what Ed said, the pressure gauge that doesn't change needs to be replaced.
