Problem with deep well jet pump started out with pump continually stopping and starting. When turning off power to pump the pressure would drop from 50 psi to 0 . Plumber pulled pipes from well, found hole in one of the hoses. Replaced both hoses above jet, and also replaced foot valve. Pump worked fine after this fix, until running water for longer time time sutch as showering. Water flow would decrease to nothing pump would continue to run. After turning off power to pump, waiting 5 min. turn power on, system would then refill, pressure would increase and pump would turn off. Plumber said that I need a new pressure tank. Replaced tank myself , same problem, flow would stop after several min. of runtime.Plumber said the pump is getting week and they would replace it with an in well pump, after seeing the quote I said no. Replaced 1/2 h.p. pump with similar pump, but 3/4 h.p.. When pump does pressurize system,the psi gauge stays at 55 psi. Until water is used and same problem returns. The foot valve is aproximately 25 feet below water level, plenty of water in well. Plumber returned to check well. Said I did a great job on installaton, but I need a new sytstem. Thinking of pulling pipes from well and checking jet for debris.:wall:

First, I have to say that this is my first home so I'm new to dealing with these wonderful problems. I have a water leak coming from inside the electrial conduit running to my well. My well is 100 feet from my house and is 240 feet deep. The conduit enters the basement through the concrete foundation about six feet underground. The conduit connects to a 90 degree elbow that has a removable plate and gasket then goes to the electrical box for my well. I took off the plate and gasket at the elbow and the water is coming from inside the conduit from the well. The conduit to the electrical box is bone dry. Also, I have opened my well cap and the conduit is dry there. The leak is about 1 gallon a day. I sprayed 'Great Stuff Gaps and Cracks' foam into the conduit towards the well with little success. I don't think it could cure in the constantly wet conduit and that it did not seal around all the wires passing through the conduit. I think the conduit is cracked at some point underground. I have got lots of questions and would appreciate any help. What can I do to fix this? Is sealing this conduit a bad idea? Will a conduit filled with water damage the electrical wires running to my well? Are the wires waterproof? Is the conduit meant to protect the wires from things other than water? If it's OK for these wires to sit in water, will an Epoxy Putty that will cure even underwater work? Is there a disadvantage to permanently epoxing these wires in the conduit? Thanks for any help.
