Drain Tile Blocked?

I have a 12 year old house with a sump pump in the southeast corner. The last few heavy rains my window well on the south wall filled up from the bottom with water and leaked in around the window. I'm thinking that my drain line to the sump pump is blocked. How should I go about testing to see if it is blocked and then unblocking it if it is?

Hello,

I used to work for a house building construction co. before I became a plumber, and I am assuming (cringe), the window well you are speaking about is outside. If I am correct in my assumption then the sump pump in your basement really should have nothing to do with your problem. Usually there is a perimeter drain installed around the foundation of the house and is run off to the woods, stream etc.
If this is the case, then either the perimeter drain is plugged or the soil on top of the drain near the window is not letting the water drain/leach through to the perimeter drain below. This fix may require a backhoe as the perimeter drain may be down 7".
