Why does my new pump keep shutting off

My son and I just installed a new above the ground well pump. It is a Water Ace RC5 1/2 HP pump. I am not sure how deep the well is exactly, but pipes are 50 feet. The pump takes 115 v. I am not sure how big the tank is but my guess is about 40 gallons. Well, the pump turns on, and it pumps water for a few seconds and then turns off. It is not hot to the touch so I am guessing it is not over heating, but it is not getting water into the tank, or to my house before it turns off. Can anyone help me with why this might be happening. My max pressure is 50, The pumps gauge jumps up, and stays at that level, then just cuts off and reads zero, but there is water pressure still in the pipe because we checked and water came shooting out of the pressure regulator. If anyone can tell me what this could be I would greatly appreciate it!! I have spent all my money and don't have money to get it checked.

Hi, Welcome to the forums.

There is a blockage between the pump and tank.
Do you have a valve in between the pump and tank?
Make sure it's open.
Do you have a check valve in there? Make sure the arrow is pointing toward the tank.

Something has gotten lodged in the pipes.
