Zoeller pump powers on but doesnt pump after cleaning out sump hole
I am not sure what I did to cause my sump pump to stop pumping water. Some details:
I have a 15 year old 1/3 hp? Zoeller sump pump.
I unplugged the power to the sump pump, then cleaned debris from the sump basin.
After cleaning out debris from the basin, I plugged it back in and pulled up on the float switch. The unit made noise like it was powered on but it stopped pumping water.
What happened?

Since you disturbed the pump, my guess is the is something in the suction side of the pump.
There may be a stick or trash stuck in the bottom of the pump.
As long as water is over the pump suction, it should still work.
Just unplugging it should not hurt it.
Just a thought.

Did you use the pump to pump out most of the water before cleaning the basin? If the pump sucked air, it could be air locked. Sometimes just filling the basin with water and plugging and unplugging the pump a couple of times will fix it.

Its fixed now. Not sure what fixed it. I opened up the pump and made sure plastic propellers were cleaned. plugged it in, had some water in the sump and sucked it out.
