Zoeller sump pump motor running constantly

Hi, my Zoeller sump pump in the basement is running constantly. The pump is pumping and the motor is running all the time and keep discharging. The water level does not raise enough for the float to activate. I see the weep hole working from the pump. Motor is getting hot, so I jut turned it off. Where should I start looking? Thanks.

Sounds like your pressure switch is stuck. If it is external (a float) move it around a bunch (shake it) and see if you can get it unstuck. If it is internal you will just have to change the pump.

Zoeller pump

Thanks. After shaking the float, I was able to stop the motor for a while but it started running again. So looks like the switch is not making contact. Can I just change the float?

Actually, the switch is making contact that is why the motor is running. I am not sure if you can just change the float. Do a search on Google of the manufacture/model number or just search sump pump float and see if you can find replacement parts.

Just changed the switch today and everything seems to be working fine. I did not know there is gasket between the switch housing and body. I used the old one. Hope it will be OK.
