septic sump help

I'm renting a single story 4br 3.5ba. no basement. septic sys has a sump not covered or sealed. we have had several issues with the sys.now the pump had to be replaced for the second time in 2 months they say a disposable wipe was why the pump went out. I would think the sys should handle t/p and disposable wipes am i wrong. I'm a disabled vet. they want me to pay for the pump on a sys that i don't feel is properly installed from the begining no permit for the sump only the septic tank.can any one help me with this problem?

There are some pumps out there that are not built to pump anything but water, and maybe some paper. Baby wipes are not like paper, they are a lot stronger, and not meant to be flushed.

As far as paying for anything, that would be between you and the owner. That's not really a question for any DIY site.
The contract you signed when you first rented the house, may have something in it pertaining to things like this.
