Solar Power Sump

Is there such a thing that a solar powered supply could run a sump pump? You would never need to worry about the power going out again. I have a battery back up but its not very strong

Doesn't the sump pump usually run when it's raining and no sun?

Solar cells themselves can not run anything as power hungry as a pump.
They are used to charge a battery over time and then run down the battery in a short amount of time with a high current load.

What do you mean by strong?

I'd guess his battery is weak and the pump isn't running long anymore. More than likely the battery just needs replaced. Or maybe he's using a regular car battery instead of a deep cycle marine battery. There is a HUGE difference in performance between these two batteries.

As for solar powered pumps, there are companies that make them. I know Grundfos makes the SQflex line which is a solar powered submersible pump that can be used for a whole house water supply.

I don't think anyone has a sump pump that runs on solar power. Like was said, you would still need a bunch of batteries to store the power because usually when it rains the sun isn't out. I can guarantee you can buy a generator to run your sump pump for a heck of a lot less than what a solar powered unit would cost.

Cheaper yet, try a new battery. I'd bet that's the issue.
