My toilet is belching air

my toilet belches air when the washing machine pumps out. I just bought the house and during inspection the inspector ran a great deal of water into the septic tank without problems. we did two laundry loads and two showers and the then the air started belching from the toilet. It does not smell of septic.
Any ideas?

There needs to be a vent on the sewer line with the belching toilet. If it already has one, it may just be stoped up.
Or the septic tanks may be full. If there is a clean out on the outside of the house going to the tanks, look in it. If its full and overflowing, the tanks may need to be pumped and cleaned.

When this happens to me, I always hope it is the stack pipe clogged up, and since you are in NY, it may be iced up or covered with snow.

But in my case(s) it was always drain or septic tank trouble. Two wash loads and two showers is a lot more water than an inspector would have used.
