slow filling well
I have a 230 foot well with a 1/2 horsepower submersible, but my problem is we are always running out of water. After running out of water we turn off the power to the pump and after about an hour we can start to get water again, if you leave it for the night we are usually back up and going again like normal the next day. My question is can we just drill the well deeper to have more of a holding area there? We live in a small house with not a lot of room for a holding tank in the house.

If this is an older well, your problem could be the screen is getting clogged up with lime or something, particularly if it is a brass screen rather than PVC. Iron Oxide bacteria (looks like a red goo) can also gum up the works.

If it is lime rather than rust, you might want to try an acid treatment first. You can drill lower if you have to.

It will depend on the type of well you have if it can be drilled deeper.
If you have a well that is set in sand with the screen on the bottom, no, it cant be drilled deeper.
If you well is a rock well with out a screen, yes it can be drilled deeper.
I agree with vey, It may just need to be cleaned out.
