pressure tank psi setting

I have a Flotec with a 30/50 switch. For years apparently the real pressure in the tank was about 36 psi. Its supposed to be 28 psi.
I lowered it and now with an accurate gauge, accugauge, I have
it on 31. It worked the whole time and still does. The switch gets tripped at about 26 psi. Is it that important to set it exactly right..??
what do you know about this..??

check the tank with the accugauge or whatever it is right when the pump kicks on. that reading is your true cuton pressure, and your tank should have 2 psi LESS than that.
