too much lawn fertilzer over leach field
Hello,
What would the possible problems that could arise from putting too much fertilizer (winterguard w/out weed killer) over the grass covering a leach field.
I mistakenly put about 2.5 times the amount of the recommended dosage over about 1500 to 2000 sq feet.
Would the excess nitrogen cause any problems in the natural leach field process. Drainage has been very good to date (although the system is still all original at about 30 years old).
I'm reading that these lawn fertilzers are pretty quick release but don't stay around long. I'm not worried about the grass as it was pretty bad to begin with, but I'd hate to have to worry about septic repairs and hoping it's not necessary.
Any opinions?
