Sump pump to feed either rain barrel or well pump

I have a sump pump in my basement that goes off every 5 minutes all year long. It pumps out a 2" pvc all way down to the gulley in the front of my property. I have a backflow preventer, to the fequency is due to the amount of water draining from the basement french drain system into the holding tank. I was wondering how I could re-use this water for watering the lawn or garden. Could I use this to fill a few rain barrels, or perhaps better yet a well tank? Any and all suggestions on how to re-use and stop just wasting this water is greatly appreciated

In some areas it's quite common to have large tanks above or below ground to store ground and runoff water for irrigation and even non-potable uses in the home (flushing toilets). The cost will depend largely on how much water you want to store and where you want to store it. An old barrel sitting in the back yard will be very inexpensive but may require work from you to operate valves or move hoses. Large underground storage tanks with automatic controls will be considerably more expensive.
