Foot valve problems
I have a water well bout 80ft deep and the water table 35ft. I replaced the foot valve and leathers and couple years ago and now it is leaking through the foot valve again. Is their anything I can do so I don't have to do this every couple of years; like maybe a filter I can add or something?
any help would be apperciated

Not a submersible pump correct? Two pipe shallow pump?
How long ago did you install the pump? Did you prime it? Do you get water after prime, and then you lose prime?
I am just trying to get more specifics so I can help you better. Give more detail of whats going on.

correct it's a vertical 2 stage deep well pump..It's a single pipe. I started having problems about a year ago with a seal on the old pump so I took it off and took it to a well place ,and got the seal replaced. The guy told me the bearings were going out ,but said it would still work fine. So for about a year it had been going on and off about every 30-45 minutes even when nothing was running. Got a hard freeze not to long ago and the pump went out so I bought a new one and installed it about a week ago. I primed it and it kept its prime but would cut on about 30-45 minutes even when nothing was running. The motor was getting hot so I shut it off and hooked up to my grandfathers.

probably sj-10 with 2" packer style jet assembly. looks like one pipe because it's bolted to a well adapter that's bolted to the well casing. it works just like a 2 pipe system. the pipe inside the casing being one of them, and the well casing itself being the other pipe. with this type of system, the 2" well casing is pressurized, is the well casing steel or PVC?
one possibility (the worst) is that the well casing is steel and has a hole rusted into it between the pump and the jet that's letting the pressure out. another possibility could be the leathers on the jet assembly. and finally, it could be the foot valve. the last two arent bad, first one is no good. my advice would be to pull up the jet, replace the leathers and foot valve, then raise the jet line a few feet. prime and run.

Agree with justwater. Also I recently had a simmons footvalve leak after only a year. I will probably start to use flomatic footvalves again.
I noticed through the years that some wells need to be pulled more than others due to bad footvalves/leathers. I never could figure out why...tried moving the jet a little, went to different leathers, etc. Just bad luck I guess.
