trying to formulate budget for wells

I'd like to make a budget set-aside for our well.

It's a 600' thing, and has a pump in bottom. I really don't know more about it right now.

How much should I set aside for changing the pump out? Seems this would be a "pull the well" event.

I have no idea how much it would take to do that. I'd like to set money aside for it.

Thoughts on it appreciated.

Is your pump failed/failing? Why do you feel you need to set money aside for it? Pumps last for many years before failing.

No. I want to start setting money aside for when/if it does fail.

Depending on the hp. It could run anywhere from 1000 to 3000.
There are a few things to consider when trying set money aside.
Is it in a house?
Is it underground? Will the well guy have to do and digging?
What horsepower the pump is?
How deep the pump is set?
What size the pipe is? To some well co. that might make a difference.

Calling a local well guy would be a good place to start looking for some prices.

A few answers:

is it a house? Yes, one family residence

Is it underground? Will the well guy have to do some digging? No. It's out in the open.

What horspower the pump is? I suspect it's at least 2hp.

How deep is the pump set? Good question; I don't know

What size the pipe is? I'll have to find that out

I'll go to local guys and ask these questions.

There may be a well info label on your pressurizer tank. Mine gives the depth of the well and the depth of the pump along with the pump model #.

If I were budgeting monies to set aside for things that might fail, my well pump would be very far down the list. Instead of putting aside monies in case a specific item fails, you may be better off just putting money into a house repair fund and using it for whatever needs repair or replacing.
