black water in the toilets

First thing is first.. I have no idea how wells or plumbing works.. I am hoping this community can help me or point me in the right direction.. I have black water in my toilets and washing machine but not in the sinks or showers yet.. There does not appear to be any loss in pressure anywhere in the house except the clothes washing machine..

Thanks in advance..

Hi,

If you have it in your toilets and washer you should have it everywhere.

Fill the bathtub and see if you can get the black color.

Also do you have any filtration device hooked up to the plumbing?

Sound like a carbon tank issue, or possibly a softner.

Fill a galss. Does the black settle out and sink to the bottom? Filter it out through a paper towel or coffee filter and try to tell us the make up of the sediment.

Hey Mike,

Thanks for your reply.. I filled a glass of water and the bathtub and found tiny white sand particles.. If there is a filtration system in place i am not sure where it is at.. I have two tanks under my home.. I have the hot water tank and what appears to be the water pump tank (not sure if thats what it is).. both hold about 45 gallons..
