Jet pump looses all pressure when off?
So I lost all water pressure. I replaced the pressure switch and had
Perfect water and pressure for abbot two days
I notice the pump running continuously one night
And unplugged it. I could hear all the water running
Out of the pipes past the pump and out of the basement.
I tried to put a check valve in the line. I primed
The pump and it reached around 35 but not enough
To kick the pressure switch. I unplugged the pump
And can still hear water leaking down the line.
The big thing is my well is a septic box . The pipe
runs to the bottom of the concete box. I have dug the
line up but see no foot valve? There is only
a metal elbow and pipe that come from the bottom
Of the box and hook to the plastic line.

No everything is connected . I was going to replace the foot valve but I do not see one at all. Is this even possible? I only exposed the pipe by the well to look for the valve.

The foot valve would be located inside the tank at the very end of the suction hose underwater. It is not something you see by digging up the pipe outside the tank.

Exactly idrained the waterfrom theconcete box and dug the outside to find the pipe.
There is only a hole in the bottom of the inside and the plastic line on outside runs to a elbow then to the box. I can not find the ft valve at all.

Ok so I let the box refill since I couldn't find a ft valve. I installed a check valve behind the pump and now I have pressure built up.
I can still hear water leak back the suction pipe behind the check valve? I have water at the faucet but also air. Seems the the closer I get to fixin it the more confused it makes me. This well is for a old farm house. I have lived here 3 years and never had a problem. The pump itself was new when I moved in.

Possibly if you have a ft valve its OK but you may have a leak in the suction line.
Well Box???
Are you talking about a pit? And at the bottom of the pit is all your well stuff? Or just the well head?
I am not familiar if its something else.

I'm thinking Lawrosa is on to something with a leak in the suction line. Air entering is probably what's allowing the water to drain back to the well tank.

The water is all stored in a septic tank box. The box(pit) has a over flow and is always fill. I used buckets and emptied the pit. My well is only only about 4 ft deep. There is only a hole in the bottom which the suction pipe is. I bought a ft valve so I know what it should look like but there is nothin in the box( pit). I'll check for leaks around the new check valve I installed. Thank you for the suggestions. I can't figure how to upload photos from my phone or I would .

Pics need to be put to a free place like photobucket.com. Then post the link to those photos here.
Cant visualize a 4ft open pit well. Unless its just a well pit were the head is and it happens to be filled with rain water.
