A question on a well/water storage/irrigation

New to the forum and I am trying to work out a few issues/questions I have regarding an upcoming farm project.

I am putting in a well that will supply water to a 550 gallon tank. From the storage tank (the storage tank is not pressurized), I want to push water to several different areas through 1 1/4 inch Schedule 40 PVC. On the outlet side of the pump, I will have 4 control valves (zones) along a 2' section of PVC pipe where I can divert the flow of water. On the end of the 2' section of PVC I am going to put a regular garden hose spigot.

I'm curious as to if all valves are closed, and the pump remains running for several minutes, will the pump/pvc pipe that I am pushing water with/through from the storage tank get damaged? It will have water in it, but the water won't be going anywhere. I'm worried that too much back pressure will occur and damage the pump/PVC pipe.

What alternatives (in-line pressure switch, etc.), if any, can I use with this set-up? The pump I am looking at states "Flow rates may be dialed back by a ball valve with no harm to pump. Electric current draw drops as flow is reduced". Am I to take this as I can control the outlet pressure from the pump?

Thanks for your time and assistance.

To run a hose and faucet you really need a pressure tank with a pressure switch. But then every zone will need to exactly match the amount produced by the pump or it will cycle itself to death. And there are ways to stop the pump from cycling on and off.
