Water tank question..
Hello out there, lm searching for a little insight..... I want to make sure that l have the correct pressure in my water tank, and am not sure. I have a A.O. Smith aqua air water system tank. Model V100, Serial # GJ8618 B97. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I didn't look to see if the tank has any special settings, but the rule of thumb is 2 psi below turn-on pressure. Turn on 30 = tank 28, etc. Turn off pump, relieve system pressure (open a tap), then read tank. Adjust as necessary.

Thanks for your response. I will start from here. Is there anyway of knowing for sure what the turn on pressure is? Or just generally is it around 30psi? This is all new to me, again, really appreciate the help n knowledge.

I think 30/50 and 40/60 are the standard switches; they can be fine-tuned somewhat with the adjusting screws under the plastic cover. The factory setting may be shown on the sticker under the plastic cover. You should have a pressure gauge on the system itself; just watch the gauge when you have a faucet open. When the pump kicks on that's the low pressure and off is the high pressure. These could be affected if the switch is worn or defective; I recently had to replace mine (30/50) because the pump wasn't coming on until pressure dropped below 25 psi. Opened up the old switch after putting new one on and it had a bunch of crud under the diaphragm.
Tank preload pressure has to be checked with system pressure at "0".

Tank preload pressure has to be checked with system pressure at "0".

Add air to the tank and see if it holds. If it does not hold or you get water out the valve stem your bladder is bad and thus your tank is bad. I highly recommend a Well X Trol style tank.
