Inlaws at cabin shut off septic breaker...do we need to make a special trip up?

We left the lake and the in-laws stayed longer at our cabin..we always shut of the breaker to the hot water heater and the well. They also shut off the breaker to the septic and we are wondering/worrying if we should make a special trip up to turn it back on. We have a lift station...I'm not sure exactly what they shut off to the system. As the water is off we are thinking it will be OK. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Welcome to the forums! That's a tough call. You know your system better than we do, so if there is any way for water to get into the lift station, then it will overflow without the pump activated. If you are sure there is no way water can get into it, then you should be ok until your next trip up there.

If this is going to keep you up at night, or your wife is going to nag about it, then make the drive.

Shame that you don't have a neighbor that can do it for you, though. Out in the country, neighbors are important.

Thanks for the reply...and the welcome! I don't think that water can get in the lift station, but I'm not positive. We are new owners of this cabin and to be honest don't have enough experience with septic systems. I was thinking it would be OK as it's in the 90's here with no sign of rain, but I was also thinking we could show up on the weekend to a huge mess. Again, thanks for all of the replies.
Would it be a good idea to have a septic guy out to go over the system....or are all systems site specific? Maybe we need to hunt down whoever installed the system?

Could it be an aeration system also? If so you would want it on to the keep the effluent aerobic. Could be lots of other things. All systems are different.

How far is the cabin?
