Well Entry (Water Well)

Hi,

After hurricane sandy I noticed that where the well pipe enters my basement there was a small puddle. I noticed a drip that appeared to be coming from where the well pipe (PVC) entered the basement through the foundation.

Today I went for a closer look. The concrete around the well pipe is in fact nice and tight with no cracks or openings. I did, with this closer look, see that there is a second, smaller pipe (maybe 1/2 inch) that comes through just above the water pipe. This pipe has the wires running out to the submersible pump.

The end I can see appears to have nothing blocking it. I assume that the other end is sealed (maybe not fully, etc) since it is only a small drip. Is there something that I can put into this little tube w/ just the wires running through it to seal up the opening? I obviously don't want to mess up the wires, etc.

Thanks,
Scott

If you can get it to dry, I would say fill it with silicone and be done.
Only a small bead at the end can be easily removed should you need to remove/replace the wires.

I would however check to see where/how the water is getting into the pipe. If it's damage to to the storm, sealing the end in the house could simply cause you more issues down the line.

It's already fully dry. In the past (big storm and melts at same time) I have seen a small puddle there now that I think about it more.

Just normal silicon from hd?

What does the other side of the wall look like?
I'm assuming this is below grade. You might have to break out a shovel and see what it looks like on the other side of the wall.

No clue at this point. I am assuming its not fully open, otherwise I would think I would see more water gushing through. It's more of a steady type drip only after the heaviest and wettest times if at all.

I'm wondering if the pipe only goes through the wall and ends on the other side, or if there is a crack/break in the pipe on the other side of the wall.

Have you ever seen this? Maybe a different brand, not sure where I could even get this, unless I am missing something.
