What kind of crawl space drainage system

I live in a 1918 farm house. The crawl space gets alot of ground water and we are looking to invest in a pump system but unsure of what the best kind will be. The house sits on a level ground, and has low clearance. i have had serval companies look at this and my two options so far are.

a crawl space pereminter all the way around the interior foundation wall that will sit below the foundation to catch any water and direct it towards the lowest spot where the sump pump will sit. This is the most expensive option. This is what they plan on doing from the quote.
1. Install SmartSump pump system with liner, cast iron pump, CleanPump Stand, airtight lid with airtight floor drain and WaterWatch alarm system.
2. Install IceGuard to prevent floods from frozen discharge line. 3. Remove Debris, install new 6mil. moisture berrier to code. 4. Discharge Line runs
to new downspout line. 5. DIG A TRENCH 8-12 IN. FROM THE INSIDE PERIMETER OF THE FOUNDATION WALL INSTALL A 4" SMOOTH WALL
PERFORATED PVC PIPE, FITLER FABRIC , COVER WITH 1 1/2 " WASHED GRAVEL , GRAVITY DRAIN TO THE PUMP. 6. 8.6

Another is a basic system where they will add the sump pump in the lowest spot and make a trenches so severything gets directed to the low spot. This of course is the cheaper system but i worry it wont be last as long.

First thing I'd be thinking is to check the local water table. Make sure that water isn't just coming up from below. Presumably, you have a well. How far below the crawlspace floor level is the water level in the well ?

Next thing is terrain. The house isn't located in a yard shaped like a bowl, or at the bottom of a hill etc ? You may need to control surface water.

Then there's your roof and drainpipes. Are all significant sections of the roof handled by downspouts ? Are the downspouts directed as far away from the house as possible ? No point dumping rainwater 4 feet away from the wall..

If all that is ok, then finally you have to look to some type of under-house drainage. I would think it better to have the trench and pipe on the outside of the house, then direct it back under the house (non-perforated pipe) into a pit where the sump pump lives. The discharge from the sump pump would of course have to be away from the house by some distance.
