Need some help with well pump
Hey guys. Was lurkin / poking around and found some great info. but now im stuck
Took a shower last night around midnight had great water pressure. flushed toilet and washed hands around 0115am today with no problems. around 1100 am I had no Water coming into the house.
The house was built in 79 and we bought it from the original owners. I am far from handy but as everyone says money is tight and im trying to do this on my own
Checked the Blue thing which i have figured out is the pressure tank or bladder i used a tire gague on the valve on top, it showed me 28 ish psi
The inline gauge was reading 0
if i used a wooden dowell i could make the pressure control valve open and spark when contact was made.
Went to hardware store bought a new valve and gague. replaced both and still have no water.
I have no idea if its a jet pump or shallow, but when i go outside to my well head , i can hear water running, it sounds like pouring water out of a bucket into a pond. I can hear no motors running. going down into the well head is 2 black wires, i could not get the cap all the way off but did notice a acess hatch, opened that up and found it to be full of ants, and had some black wires inside that. ..
At this point im stuck? need some advice. im not sure if i need to prime something or what
The pressure tank is empty of any water it does not slosh when i shake it.

Do you have a pump above ground? If so it's probably near your pressure tank and switch.
Without knowing more I suspect you have a submersible pump and might have a ruptured riser pipe in the well.

You said you heard what sounded like running water in the well. Turn off the power to the pump and see if that stops. If it does you'll be needing to lift out the pump for inspection.

As far as the pump goes i believe it is submerged. The pressure tank is by my Raidon system, Water Softner, and Water Heater.
The pipes leading out of the pressure tank go to the pressure switch , via the valve, and one goes into my sump.
When I was out side i called the wife on the phone. Had her cycle the breaker in the house and the running water would stop and start when she did that

That would confirm what Dane mentioned. The pump may have twisted and broken the water line coming up to the surface.
If lifting the pump out of the ground isn't your thing then you'll need to call a well company for assistance. The thought that the pump is no longer connected to the pipe is an issue in itself.

It sounds like your pump might still be working which is an expensive part. The pipe & fittings are relatively inexpensive and pretty easy, albeit messy, to replace.
