Very low pressure in house
Hi all,
This afternoon i got home and had very low water pressure in the house. I went down and checked the air pressure in the bladder and it showed nothing. I pressed down on the valve and very little air came out, but no water. I tried pumping it up, and it still wouldnt show anything on my tire gauge. There is a spicket by the tank and that has really good pressure. The blader tank is very light as well. I could feel the water moving through the pipes from the well, amd itmseemed likemitmwas constantly running. The pressure switch has power, and contacts are clean and in the on position. Any ideas? Im at a loss here on this one. Im not sure what kind of pump or well it is, and not sure how to find out. Please help.
Thanks,
Scott.

Welcome to the forum.
The air in the tank is just a cushion for the water. It's to keep the pump from short cycling. Even if the tank was bad.....you'd still have normal water pressure.
You'll need to recharge your tank and in this thread wells-sump-pumps-septic-sewage-systems/365092-pump-cycling-water-logged-other-well-info.html the proper method is discussed.
If you can hear the water constantly running you need to find out where it's running to. If you can't find something running..... like a toilet, sprinkler system or something else..... then it could be a break in the plumbing if you are on a slab (no basement).

You have low water pressure and hear water constantly running through the pipe you may have a leak somewhere. Only after any leak is corrected would I worry about setting the pressure tank air pressure.

Sort of sounds like it could be a bad check valve, or ruptured line from the pump to the tank, but that's a huge stretch at this point. You said that you don't know what kind of well or pump it is; does that mean that you don't know where it is, or are just not familiar with the types? Can you hear the pump when it is running? Do you have a 4-6" pipe with a cap sticking up in the yard, such as with a submersible pump?

Ok......where is your well ? What do you see ? Take a picture or describe it to us.
In your first post you said you heard water running thru the pipes..... is there a valve you can shut off near the tank that turns off the water to the house ?
Pictures really tell us a lot.....so if you can.....shoot a few pics and post them here.

Today i put on a new bladder tank. I couldnt get any pressure at the valve and the water pressure had been surging, so i decided it needed it anyway. found a lot of sediment in the pipes leading to the gauge. Cleaned it all up and put a new gauge on it. Reads 10 lbs. I did a volume test as well, and it did pass. I have good volume of water, but the pressure is not good, and thats why I have very little pressure at the faucet. I talked to a well business and he thinks that the well is leaking down pressure. Waiting for monday to get someone out to fix it. Untill then my neighbor ran a hose down to my basement and we have water for now.
