Sewerage Pump Tripping GFCI

Separated from : http://www.doityourself.com/forum/we...ml#post2139743

how's the pump these days brian6464. My hydromatic sewage pump just tripped my GFCI after 2.5 years of use today. Last week, I noticed the pump was stuck running, and after flushing a bunch of water through with a garden hose, whatever was causing the float to stick let go and it went back to normal. Plumber's been called to investigate, but I wonder if I should just put in a normal receptacle instead.

If code requires it it must remain. The fact it is tripping indicates either a failing GFCI or a potentially unsafe leakage of current. The cause needs to be fixed.
