Soft ground, no smell

Hi,

Im new here. I unfortunately live in MA. My house was built in 1965, 1000 gallon tank, been in house for 14 years. I pump the system every 4 - 5 years (3 times since we bought it. It passes title 5 when bought) we are very diligent about use of soaps, no tampons in toilet, no grease down drains etc. every time we pump the tank looks good.

I just went away on vacation and added Rid-x to the tank the first time ever. Dont ask me why, I just did, lol. I bought a large bottle, used 1/2 of it per directions. I left in near the toilet before we left. Well when I was away my brother came by, checked on the house and saw the bottle. Without asking, he dumped the other 1/2 down.

I just got back and my wife noticed the back yard was soft in areas. I looked and noticed its near where the leaching pit is. The ground is soft, not wet and doesn't smell. I haven't opened the tank yet nor dug down in the ground. Im planning on doing this later today.

Is it possible this additive caused the tank to overflow? Or could it be something bigger? Im thinking its the additive but would like a professional opinion. Trust me, this will be the last time this happens!

Thanks in advance for any input!

I do not think Rid-X caused the soft spots in your yard. I'm betting the soft spots were there before and you've only recently noticed them.
