So there's 2 pumps on this houses system. 1 for the Well, and 1 for the House. Both are outside, both are on tanks, right next to one another, basically. IDK if this a typical setup, or not. I'm new to these things, btw. The well pump is operating fine. It's bringing water from the well into the bladder tank and then into a giant holding tank, I would presume. Then the house pump draws from the big tank, into a smaller diaphragm tank, and into the house. The House pump is set to 30-50, or should be, but is seemingly set to around 30-32 to 52-55, something in that range. When I heard the pump turning on and off, I went and unplugged it. I looked for leaks right there in the piping and couldn't see any. So I plugged it back in. It operated until about 55, shut off, and steadily dropped in pressure. I can't hear any air hissing, and it's on a Utilitech Diaphragm Tank. I checked the pressure in the tank with the pump unplugged, it was on 43 or 44, just about. That was with water in the tank, I would presume, as I don't know how or see anywhere to empty it from. The pump is a Goulds J5S Single Nose Shallow Well Jet Pump, 1/2HP.

This morning I woke to my water pump recycling every 10 seconds. For a year it has been recycling more than it should and I now realize why I have been paying up to $100 a month MORE in electrical bills. Pressure in the pressure tank was about 10 so I raised it to 30. My cut in and out is 35/55. This helped slow the recycle down to every 60 seconds instead of 10 seconds. But its obviously not right and something needs to be fixed. I cannot find a leak or reason for loss of pressure anywhere in the house. When I close the water main down just after the pressure tank it still loses pressure rapidly. When I close the water down right after the pump it goes crazy and recycles every second. I'm unemployed and poor and can't afford a professional or to fix things that don't need it. Can anyone offer any advice on that it could be based on this? Thank you
