Open well seal

I suspect I have a bad foot valve in my pump. What's the best way to go about, opening and accessing the foot valve? What precaution do I need to take?

I tried turning the bolts are the well seal and they can jammed shut, I am trying to loosen them up with some wd-40, but not much luck so far.

Pics are here.

You pictures are not visible without logging into your account.

If your well cap looks similar to this one I'd just try a bigger wrench on the nuts. They will either break free or break off. You can also try using a chisel or block of wood to catch the bottom lip of the cap and pound upwards. It's just a friction fit and the weight of the pipe holding it in place.

Thanks.

I reposted the pictures. The last one shows the two bolts. Do I need to do anything to support the pipes? What do I do, once (and if) I manage to open the well cap up?
